Happy Birthday Kenzie

Yesterday was Kenzie's 2nd birthday! Wow, That went so fast. She got exactly what she wanted, a Pink Castle. She has barely let it out of her site since 7:30 yesterday morning. She was so excited that we barely got it out of the box.

I feel bad I am not posting a picture yet as I think that blogs are so much more interesting with pictures but she is having a family party Saturday so I figure we will wait for the cake.

We also said a fond farewell to her Binky's yesterday, the pink one, and the green one, and the orange one. She threw them in the big garbage can and the garbageman took them away in his big truck. (I am hoping that this makes the garbage man the bad guy and not me) I am not sure if this was more traumatic for me, because I know she's the baby, or more traumatic for her. She has asked for them a couple of times and I just ask her where she put them and then it's okay for a few more minutes. I hope that we haven't said good bye to our nice long afternoon naps because of this. Hopefully it will just take a little adjustment time.

I am also trying to teach her to say "I'm TWO!" Last night she was telling someone and she did say I'm two, but instead of two fingers together she made the I love you sign but with out the thumb. It was certainly one I hadn't seen yet. She is just way too cute.

Truely Amazing!!!

I just realized that the most amazing thing we saw on our trip I had yet to write about. We actually saw these as we were making our way back into town to head for the airport to come home. It was whale season, and these weren't the only ones we saw just the best of the pictures. It is just so cool that with one swish of their tail fin and they can move like that. One of our guides said that a chamber of their heart is the size of a VW Bug. They come down to the islands to have their calves and they survive off of their blubber the entire time, because of the lack of food. The calves however can gain 5lbs. an hour from nursing, up to 150 gallons a day. And many of us are worried about the weight we gain. Like I said every day we saw something that was just so breathtakingly amazing!

Out for Fun!

We had to do the tourist thing and go to a Luau just so we could sample the locals! I mean the local food. Nothing fancy to write about but participating in the hoola was fun. These other pictures are just what the beach looked like from where we were staying. But if you ever want to get away, and you have money to spend, which we never do (thank you Discount Tire for sending us!) We would highly recommend going, we want to do it again only next time we would like to take our kids.

Snorkeling Trip

Snorkeling was a lot of fun, Jared took to it like "a fish to water" that was supposed to be funny! I enjoyed it as well, but once I got cold it took a lot to get warm. It is so amazing to see all of the fish and coral, the beauty that is below the water. Jared was flipping through the channels when we got back and came upon a PBS scuba special, something that we might have skipped before but it was exciting to see it all again, and this time to really know what it looked like for ourselves.

Nakalele Blowhole

What a windy day! We spent most of the day shopping in Lahaina, and that was a fun experience. Jared does love to shop! But after all of that fun, we drove farther up the coast to this blowhole. We were able to hike right down to it, and it was truely amazing. We didn't realize how far up it was really shooting until Jared was almost standing on it.





This makes me realize how small we all are, I was a ways back on the trail and decided to go around some rocks and sneak up on Jared, when I was almost there a rather large wave hit the rocks we were standing by, soaking us in its path.

The Road to Hana

This road to Hana is quite the road. We left our hotel at 7:30 and didn't return until about 4:30. The road is full of twists and turns and about 55 one lane bridges, I read somewhere that someone thought there were about 600 turns, but what beautiful sites. We saw many waterfalls, these trees that looked like they had been painted, just not quite real and the black sand beaches were beautiful. And the drive for the most part was right along the ocean. It took a lot on Jared's part to stay on the road and not watch the coast line. Which is why we made numerous stops along the way. It was definitely the journey and not the destination.

Bike trip down the crater in Maui

This was an amazing sight to behold. They picked us up in our lobby at 3:30 am, yea, it was early! And it was really cold, like 30 degrees at the top. Elevation 10,000 feet, but WOW! It was breath taking. We were above the cloud level and the colors were exquisite. The pictures don't do much for it but its all we have left. After the sun rise we biked approx. 17 miles down the canyon, it was a cold ride, but it was a lot of fun.

No, Jared did not get to ride on the handlebars on the way down, and no we did not buy these lovely yellow outfits. Who knew it could be so cold in Maui you would need cold weather gear?
